Our Mission Statement

Continuum, the Capital Scholars Honors Journal, is a showcase of high quality composition and a variety of creative works produced by the Capital Scholars Honors undergraduate students at the University of Illinois Springfield. We strongly endorse efforts that challenge the standards of mainstream thought.  Submissions include book reviews, essays, research papers, poetry, song lyrics, instrumentals, photographs, digital and multimedia compositions, and various works of art, to name a few.  The Spring 2015 volume marks the beginning of our adoption of a more rigorous editing process. This entails guiding conditionally accepted submitters through  revision and resubmission, and performing basic copy editing.  Our expectation is that these additional steps will serve not only to further increase the quality of the pieces we publish, but also to develop students as writers and artists, and provide them with an authentic peer-reviewed journal submission experience. We hope you enjoy our collection of student work.
